Style Illustrated

After being a bit lazy with drawing, I decided to be productive today!  I love this look.  It is one of my favourites, which is why I drew it.  I love cute buns, twist scarves, chunky scarves and a good bag.  I hope you all like it, too!

I get a lot of my style illustration ideas from real people!  I have an entire library of photos from style blogs that I've saved because they are looks that I absolutely adore!  And the ones that I love the most?  I usually end up drawing them!  Just thought you'd like to know =).

On another note, I'm so happy I started this blog.  Everyone has been so nice and leaving wonderful comments about how much they like the blog so far!  Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!!  I'm just so glad you all find the things I find dandy...dandy, too!

Outfit details!

As most of you could probably tell, I'm still in that phase where I'm playing around with how I want this blog to look.  I posted these pictures with Instagram filters on them.  I think I like the way these pictures look without the filters better.  Because the photos that my boyfriend took are taken at a much higher quality/resolution I think I'll start to ALWAYS post outfit shoots without filters.  Yeah.  iPhone photos, however, will most likely be from what I shoot on Instagram.

Follow me on Instagram if you have an iPhone!  @thelittledandy  =)

Also, my apologies for the super yellow lighting in the first and last photos.  They were taken under a different light than the others, and I couldn't bother with it in Photoshop.

Anyways!
  • Chiffon blouse in Bone - American Apparel
  • Fisherman's pullover in Wheat - American Apparel
  • Four-way stretch high-wasited zipper pants in Truffle - American Apparel
  • Navy triangle ear studs - Forever21
  • Hair ribbon - sent from S.Korea
Guess it was an American Apparel type of day!  Yikes!

Outfit Shoot

My dear photographer boyfriend has agreed to take pictures for me on weekends!  Here's what I wore this past Saturday.
You may not know this, but I live in the big 'Oh Canada', and its UNFORGIVINGLY cold...still.  So here I am, bundled up and in the snow.
  • Bow hair accessory - sent from my sister in S.Korea (approx.  $1CAD)
  • Black hooded puffer coat - underground shopping stall in S.Korea (approx. $50CAD)
  • Faux leather brown bag - underground shopping stall in S. Korea (approx. $9CAD)
  • Four-way stretch high-wasited zipper pants in Truffle - American Apparel ($85CAD)
  • Brown boots - underground shopping stall in S. Korea (approx. $25CAD)
I didn't realize how much cheap underground shopping junk I was wearing this day!  Haha.  Anyway, details of what I was wearing underneath the jacket tomorrow!  Time for bed!  Goodnight!

OOTD: yay or nay?

First of all.  You girls are WONDERFUL!  I've only moved this blog over to blogger in the last week, and you have all been leaving wonderful comments already!  If you are a new visitor, please enjoy your stay, leave comments, and follow me!  I try my best to respond to everyone, and I visit and add everyone back =).
Anywhoo, I am very thankful for the feedback from all of you about this little dress.  I still can't commit to cutting it short yet, so I decided to tuck it in and wear it as a sweater today.  What do you all think?  Yay or nay?  I think it's an adorable look, and I enjoyed smiling about in it all day haha.  Before I cut it, I'm gonna wear it out with some black pantyhose and a belt like Rachel suggested (visit her blog!  http://coldknees.blogspot.com/) and see which look I like better.  Who knows.  Maybe I'll keep it long and just tuck it in once in a while.  Hmmmm.

Future DIY?

My mom recently returned from a prolonged trip to Korea to visit her parents.  Upon her return she brought with her a whole batch o' goodies for me.  Amongst those goodies was this.  This adorable lady-like dress.  Now, my mom is usually TERRIBLE...absolutely TERRIBLE at buying things for me.  Anytime she ever buys me something (whether its clothes, bags, or even books) it usually ends up in the corner or very back of somewhere and just collects dust over time.  So good job, mum, in finally getting me something that I am not totally turned off of.

Now, while I think that this little pink frock is absolutely adorbs to DEATH, it's not totally my style.  I'm into pink--yes.  I'm into cute details--yes.  I'm into collars and cuffs--yes.  I'm into dress--absolutely.  But this for some reason is not really me.  I love my girly side, but I also have quite the tom-boyish/edgy side to me as well.  For that reason, I've been thinking about cutting this dress into a cropped sweater of sorts.  I know...I'm evil.  I am the evilest evil-do-er of them all for even THINKING about cutting this innocent pink dress.

Bah...I just can't get myself to do it.  Look how cute she is!

HELP!!

penguin nails!

Yes. Believe it.  I have tiny penguins on my nails.  ON-MY-NAILS!  PENGUINS!  CUTENESS!  Haha.  I saw this either on someone's tumblr or Instagram a while ago (wish I could remember!!), and I just had to try it!  It looks a bit messy, but I'm satisfied with how it came out for the most part.

I used Skin Food nail polish in Ice Milk for the base of all my nails.  For the penguin I used any white polish I had kicking' around (this one's from H&M), and for eyes I put a glob of Chanel Black Satin on a piece of paper, and used a pencil to dot the eyes.  The yellow details were done the same way in Sally Hansen Instadry in Lightening.  For my non-penguin nails I used Sephora for OPI in Flurry Up.  Then I put a top coat on everything!  Easy, peasy, lemon-squeezy!

A bit of a throwback.  This is a pic of me in my apartment in Korea last year!  The shawl cardigan was picked up a rather strange and smelly underground thrift stop next to a subway station for less than $15cad!  Oh, Korea.  :)

Frametastic!

Downloaded a new app on my iPhone :).  Follow me on Instagram @thelittledandy <3.

The back of my head.

The back of my head.  I love buns & sweet bows <3.  And now, I'm off to dinner!

a little dandy boy.

A little drawing I did for @missmindful on Instagram for her #missmindfulbuddy contest.  I'm not really concerned with the contest itself...I just wanted to draw my favourite dandy boy outfit <3.

The Lady Turban

I love the turban headband look thats going on.  This is a small sketch of mine from back in 2009.  I'm glad the look has caught on =).

I didn't have any time to accessorize or wear makeup because we were late for our dinner reservations =(.

Mood Ring

My vintage mood ring!  I got this at a thrift shop a couple years ago.

And I did my nails!  Chanel in black satin, and American Apparel nail polish in Supernova.

Favourite Winter Look

I drew my favourite winter look: a high bun and a chunky knit scarf.  I am so in love with how cute this look is.

1960

A little sketchbook drawing of some wild hair.  The sixties.  High.  Fashion.  Need I say more?

Fur!

Recycled fur.
Vintage real fur at Ego in Kensington Market in Toronto!  I like the cream one <3.  These were on for abut $75CAD each.  I would've if I could've...

I'm an animal.

Me on a typical lazy day:

  • Twist Scarf - American Apparel
  • Fishersman's Pullover - American Apparel
  • Timex Watch - American Apparel
  • Skinny Jeans - H&M
  • Glasses - street shopping in Hong-dae in Seoul, S. Korea
<3.

The Twist Scarf

I have a thing for twist scarves.  They ALWAYS manage to save a gross hair day.  My obsession with them led me to draw this little picture.  I usually get my twist scarves from American Apparel or from Seoul, Korea.  Woo, woo!

My obsession with pretty bows...

As of late -- no, no...as of ALWAYS -- I've been quite interested in bows.  Pretty bows.  And hair.  Pretty hair.  A quick drawing from today.

Wear a bow to bed you dandy darlings.

<3

The Lady Bag

In my opinion, a bag like this is a MUST HAVE for every dandy lady come the Spring.  Yes, high-end fashion designers are throwing about beautiful bags over there in what I like to call Fashion Heaven.  There's something about this bag, though, that just makes you want to carry it everywhere!  And it's not about to force you upon a line of credit either!

Jane Frame Bag from Club Monaco.  $249.50 CAD.  Genuine leather in a beautiful brown.
Here I'm taking it for a test drive.  Looks cute with my little python flats from H&M ($20CAD).

I MUST BUY THIS BAG!!

Floral Bottoms!

Saw these beautiful pants in the window of Mendocino on my way to work today.  Too cute!
I really miss the warm weather.  Come now, Spring!

Shawl Cardigans!

Shawl cardigans!  Penny loafers!  I love dressing like a little old lady haha.  And yes, my boyfriend and I sometimes share sweaters <3.

Also, follow me -- please! =)

Boots!

Oy vey!  The cold season is upon us!

A long goodbye to the sun, and a begrudging 'hello' to the cold gloom ahead.  But be not afraid!  For there is one good thing to come of all this...BOOTS! =)

HELLO DANDY WORLD!

Hello World!
World of everything just damn dandy!  Never you mind who I am because all that matters is that I want to share with you all things wonderful!  All things pretty!  And all things just so darn dandy!

I hope you all enjoy <3.
